Imagine the bluest of skies, the warmest of weathers and the most achingly cool Californian festival to exist on planet Earth. Think urban style, bold prints and woven fabrics blended together with an air of ethnic sophistication. Welcome to the Nuevo wallpaper and fabric collection from Scion, your ticket to iconic contemporary design.
Scion’s new Nuevo wallpaper and fabric collections are inspired by South American urban festival vibes and cool, contemporary textures. Nuevo (meaning ‘new’ in Spanish) was inspired by a desert festival just outside achingly cool San Francisco. An eclectic range of vibrant fabrics and wallpapers, heavily influenced by Mexican and South American designs, Nuevo’s graphic, interlocking geometrics and flat-colour motifs reflect the move towards an ‘urban tribe’ trend. Teamed alongside textured, chunky weaves with a dry feel that reflects the woven quality of tapestries and kilim rugs – the earthy elements behind the inspiration of the collection. Nuevo presents an urban sophistication whilst remaining faithful to Scion’s bold and contemporary trend ethos.
Nuevo comprises eight fabric designs over 28 colourways, and nine wallpaper designs over 35 colourways. The fabrics are suitable for curtains, accessories and a selection of the designs can be used for occasional upholstery.
The collection includes fabrics such as the Parajo design: a repeating geo motif of swallows in patterned, perfect flight. The on-trend succulent cactus silhouette design, Opunita, and an angular rock formation appearing on the horizon in the Moqui design. Arizona, Baja and Octotillo celebrate the tropical foliage found in this climate, providing much needed shade. The colourful 3D-effect design, Nuevo, takes you into a geometric jungle dream, whilst Saxony’s bold angular lines, create a tangled web effect. The asymmetrical zig-zag vertical stripe, Rayo, brings an urban, cultured twist.
Stimulated by tapestries and kilim rugs, the tribal stripes of the Cerro design, the retro-inspired shapes of Forma and the tessellated Aztec design, Sioux, combine to make a vision of wonderful woven qualities that complement and complete the whole collection.
Nuevo’s colour palette includes earthy tones, injected with highlight, vibrant colours such as ‘Kiwi’ and ‘Electric Blue’. The new multigroup palette is fresh, cool and a contemporary move on: Charcoal & Paprika; Forest & Lime; Slate & Dandelion; Mist & Denim; Steel & Liquorice; Marine, Midnight & Kiwi; Indigo, Slate & Satsuma.
