The Pantone 2020 Colour of the Year was chosen after thoughtful consideration; a prediction that has proven appropriate as the events of the current year have unfolded.
‘Waves Of Tsushima’ from Mind The Gap recreates the feeling of an old Japanese woodblock print design.
Incredibly versatile, this enduring blue hue may emanate classic elegance or provide vivid and unexpected accents in a contemporary interior scheme.
Classic Blue is deep ocean calm, the stillness of the underwater world; cocooning, liquid, relaxing.
‘Yoruba’ from Mind The Gap is an intricate tribal design featuring a traditional Nigerian cloth pattern called Yoruba Ashoke.
‘Labyrinthine’ from Mind The Gap depicts an imaginary network of tunnels combined with geometric shapes in a giant surrealist composition.
A “contemplation of where sky and sea meet” Pantone have drawn a connection to each of the senses providing more than just a visual experience of the colour. To the touch, Classic Blue has a “soft velvety texture” and sounds like “vivid nostalgia”. It tastes of a “sugary flavour evocative of blue raspberry syrup” and its scent, an “earthy, floral musk”.
